Godparents' Sunday

5th July 2020

We will be commemorating Godparents' Sunday on 5 July and your help is
needed!

Although there will be no formal worship in church, the building will be
open and the church will be using its website and Facebook to celebrate the
many gifts and promises of Baptism and there will be a special
family-friendly service available online.

Since Revd Beth McCleave joined the church 5 years ago, over 40 children and
young people have been baptised at St Mary's and have been welcomed to the
church family along with their parents and godparents. There is even a
special Baptism Tree on permanent display. The church is now looking to
connect with these families again and are asking them to share a special
picture of the day.  The challenge is not limited to recent Baptisms at St
Mary's - the church wants to celebrate all Baptism stories and is looking to
find the longest Godparent-Godchild relationship too! If you would like to
celebrate your Baptism story and a photograph or two, please get in touch
with Marisa Hayes.

Marisa is looking for family photography which may be used as part of the
church display during July and she is also looking for any pictures which
might represent the Baptism gathering without necessarily showing
individuals' faces: a picture of the baptism candle; the family gathering in
the church. Anyone wishing to share their godparent godchild memories is
asked to get in touch with  Marisa (email her) before 3 July.
